Dirt Dawg Baseball is an innovative, creative, and cutting edge Baseball Academy that exists to help reduce the high costs of playing competitive baseball for youth. We believe that this environment contributes to an improved quality of life for youth and families. The organization’s projects, implemented by an experienced staff, emphasize character development and change kids from the inside out. Supporting the development of self-confidence, healthful living, good judgment, and character, Dirt Dawgs Baseball provides many individuals with a thorough foundation for future success.
Mission:
To provide opportunities for young kids to play competitive travel baseball and to provide an avenue for them to receive professional instruction and coaching to increase their chances to make their high school teams and hopefully an athletic scholarship to college.
Headquartered in Chino Hills, California, we accomplish our mission by addressing the critical issues of fitness and personal responsibility. The organization exercises high standards of ethics, coupled with best practices in management and accountability.
Dirt Dawg Baseball is dedicated to helping each young man reach his individual potential by encouraging wholesome habits such as practicing teamwork, focusing on goals, demonstrating passionate commitment to excellence, and staying active. These are skills they will carry into adulthood.
Founded in 2001, the organization was conceived and organized to address the social and recreational needs of California’s youth, to counteract failure, and to assist in the successful transition to life in a positive environment. Our organization has groomed many young men for success, with two first-round Major League Baseball draft picks in 2006 and 2008, 4 Major League players, six All-American athletes, TWELVE total players drafted, 76 students committed to NCAA Division I schools and 100+ students recruited to junior college.
Dirt Dawg Baseball acknowledges the needs that exist among our target demographic and serves as a well-coordinated effort of community based services, including youth mentoring and athletic competition. We hone the talents of children in the fundamentals of baseball, giving them an edge on and off the field.
We see sports as a reflection of life. Teaching sportsmanship to children on the sports field and/or court is the same as teaching them respect for thy neighbor and be kind to people. We help to guide them through the ups and downs of competition; helping them to understand, just as in life, things will not always go their way. We teach children that from losing at times you can become better, wiser, and a mentally stronger individual.
Not only is athleticism a priority for our organization, but so is academic success. On long-distance trips to tournaments, we hold study halls, constantly monitor their grades, honor them with their names on our website for academic achievement. We preach our philosophy that the word “student” comes before “athlete” in the word student-athlete.
Our program is targeted toward youth ages 6 through 18 in the entire Inland Empire and parts of Orange/ Riverside counties, and San Diego. Our sports programs will be offered during the months of November through the end of July.
Dirt Dawg Baseball currently has 13 teams. In 2011, the organization created the Dirt Dawg Heroes team for special needs youth, ages-15-21, with 20 players on the team. They are mentored by high school varsity players, giving both sets of players an enriching experience. We have 125-150 kids on our travel teams and 100 kids at our baseball camp, which translates to our organization serving around 30 to 40 kids a week. We also hold coaches’ clinics for the coaches of the local leagues to learn new drills and proper techniques to use with their own teams.
